Antibody Identification Workflow

  1. Identify non-reactive rows to establish exclusions based on negative reactions.
  2. Cross off antigens that are homozygously expressed on non-reactive cells (double-dose cells provide stronger exclusion).
  3. Review positive reactions and look for a pattern using the "rule of three" for statistical confidence.
  4. Determine if additional cells are needed to complete the workup with sufficient coverage.
  5. Check the autocontrol to distinguish allo-antibodies from auto-antibodies.
  6. Perform additional tests (enzyme panels, select cells) to confirm antibody specificity.
  7. Report conclusions including clinical significance and transfusion recommendations.
